United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
3.0 litre or tdv8. ?

Hi all. I am still browsing every cars for sale website for a tdv8 sport with around £20k to spend.
I have noticed recently that there seems to be an awful lot of the face lift 3.0 ltr versions around now for similar money.
I would like to know what members consider to be the 'BETTER' one to own.
Cheers.
Phil.

If it's the original Rrs tdv8 vs facelift 3.0 then I'd personally go with the facelift. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Hi all.
Thanks for the advice. I will be using whatever version I get to tow my 26ft twin axle caravan so it was the fact that with the v8 being chain driven and supposedly the most reliable and powerful of all three engine choices that led me to start my search.
I will hopefully be keeping whatever model I buy for a good few years so do I go for one with a few miles on the clock at a lower price which has had all the usual problems sorted or a lower mileage one with all the problems still to present themselves. ??

Shocked

The 3.6 TDV8 is the least reliable of the three diesels! Yes, there's the oil pump issue with the earlier TDV6 engines (but this is preventable), but turbo failures will vastly outnumber the cam-belt related issues, and the TDV8 suffers the most in this regard.

The 3.0 is the most reliable option, having taken advantage of improvements to the original design - and this applies to the whole facelift vehicle, not just the engine.

The only way you can buy these cars is to go on what's available in your price range. A facelift is always a better option, but not of it's a dud. A good pre-facelift is better than bad post facelift.

Good luck. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

But there are many, many TDV8's out there that have never had a problem, mine included. I do think letting it warm up and cool down helps with this though.

Hi lost for words.
Thanks for the advice I will digest all that I can get.
I haven't ruled out the discovery 3 or 4 as another option yet as I know they are a proven tug.
Cheers.
Phil.

Yep, RRS/D3/D4 - all the same underneath, so any will do the towing nicely; it's just how much you want the added practicality of the Disco and the styling differences. Thumbs Up

I towed a crusader Cyclone with 3.0TDV6 and crusader storm with SDV6

Fuel consumption was better solo on SDV6 but better towing on TDV6

I preferred the SDV6 as it was more refined and nicer interior Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Summary details below (yes cheeky I know Embarassed )

2010 - 10 Plate (March)
Stornaway Grey, Black leather/silver stitching and Piano trim - condition very good, age considering, no dents, excellent interior.
Currently 84,000 miles (mainly motorway miles done by us since 67,000 in December, been faultless)
Just serviced - Current MOT due 9/12/15 (Will be put through before sale)
Warranty Direct policy including suspension cover to June 2016 - can be transferred at buyers cost, (negates 90 day wear and tear so beneficial)
Pirelli Scorpions all round, new 2 months ago, 7-8mm

Extra's over the base HSE model:
Surround Camera's
Adaptive Xenon Headlights with High Beam Assist
Remote and Timed Fuel Burning Heater
Detachable Tow Bar and electrics

Hi, anyone had any dealings with a company called Carbridge who specialise in land rovers.
They are based near alfreton in Derbyshire
Their stock looks fairly decent and not too overpriced.
Any comments would help.
Cheers, Phil.
