Prolonging life!! (Car parts not me, I have no hope)

Probably not a definitive answer to this but I'm interested on other people's views!

I'm the type of person that will turn the air con on now and then through winter to keep it working, and will use the low range gearing sometimes to stop it seizing! Whether these are myths or fact I don't know but I do it anyway! But what are people's views on suspension?
I was of the theory that using it keeps it working well for longer, but somebody yesterday told me they don't change theirs unless needed so not to wear it out sooner!

So views on....

1, compressor, using it more often prolongs life expectancy?

2, air bags (or technical name!!) Same question?

Probably a good idea to cycle it through occasionally if the settings don't get used, but the compressor will be used anyway during normal use. The one thing it is best not to do too much, is to use access height, as this will require the compressor to run more. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Well... I use access height every time I stop the vehicle - so I assume my '05 compressor must be dead by now. But it's still working and the whole system doesn't lose air, even over long periods of rest.

I do have an aftermarket warranty that covers air suspension incl. compressors, but my motto is cars are made to be driven. Why would you buy a vehicle with cool features then not use them for fear of it wearing out???!!?! Every home should have one!

My climate control is used all year. Never understood people who don't just turn up the temperature - air con isn't just for making air cold! Sorry, grinds my gears that one. Whistle Rolling with laughter

The suspension system is always working so even if you don't change heights very often it'll still be doing some stuff. I do select off road height quite a lot, very rarely do I select access height. It's a very good idea to change between low and high range periodically; it's on LR's service schedule by the way. I select rock crawl periodically too just do that the centre diff lock gets flexed too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I don't really have much need to change from middle height myself.... I've put it on high when I've had to park in a tight car park but that's about it... Oh and today when I removed the tow bar!!
Well if it's on LR service then I will try and remember to drop it now and then... Good tip with the rock crawl Thumbs Up

Ok so climate control.... I always think of air con as cold! Can't say I've ever put it on econ so I guess I'm constantly using it!

It's wasted if I have the window open, and has little bearing on short journeys, which may far from make up the bulk of my mileage, but in frequency over time, is a large percentage. The cycle of the refrigerant has no relevance to the heating side of things either, so the swashplate compressor is an excellent feature in my mind. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
