Probably not a definitive answer to this but I'm interested on other people's views!

Probably a good idea to cycle it through occasionally if the settings don't get used, but the compressor will be used anyway during normal use. The one thing it is best not to do too much, is to use access height, as this will require the compressor to run more. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Well... I use access height every time I stop the vehicle - so I assume my '05 compressor must be dead by now. But it's still working and the whole system doesn't lose air, even over long periods of rest.

On the climate control front, it's a nice feature that when left on "Econ", it will still run at around 5% to keep the seals from drying up. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I don't really have much need to change from middle height myself.... I've put it on high when I've had to park in a tight car park but that's about it... Oh and today when I removed the tow bar!!

So the seals are fresh but the cabin is unpleasant. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

It's wasted if I have the window open, and has little bearing on short journeys, which may far from make up the bulk of my mileage, but in frequency over time, is a large percentage. The cycle of the refrigerant has no relevance to the heating side of things either, so the swashplate compressor is an excellent feature in my mind. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
