TDV6 vs SDV6 ?

So how much better is the SDV6 compared to the much cheaper TDV6 ? I had a D4 SDV6 but never drove the TDV6 version.

2.7 TDV6 or 3.0 TDV6?

For some reason, for the 2010 model when the 3.0 engine was brought out, LR called it the SDV6 in the D4, but TDV6 in the RRS. For 2012 the 8 speed box came out, the power was upped a touch more and both were then called SDV6. Rolling Eyes

There's little difference in the 3.0 versions, but the 8 speed box is a step up. Naturally, the 2.7 is a step behind, but is still a great engine. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Yes i was refering to the 3.0L version. So if i understand you correctly when looking at the RRS the diffrence is the new 8 speed Command shift box ? The engine is the same . ?

Yes, the engine is physically the same. The mapping provides a little extra power, but there's little in it; the gearbox is the main difference. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks for that. They do like to confuse things . I had an 11 plate D4 with SDV6 and 6 gears . Rolling with laughter

They certainly do! In reality, SDV6 is the "correct" name, IMO, as the S stands for sequential. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I had MY10 3.0 TDV6 for 3 years and MY13 SDV6 for 2 years - the SDV6 was far better in every way Bow down

Better ride, better gearbox, better fuel efficiency......

If I was buying again it would be SDV6 Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

That will probably explain why the price of the TDV6 is so much lower . I changed my D3 for the D4 and as you say the diffrence was awesome. Asssume this applies for the upgraded engine as well. Thumbs Up
