Have done around 500 miles since I picked my V8 diesel autobiography (waitomo, stealth pack) up 2 weeks ago. Generally am delighted with the car - was worried it would look either too "heavy" or gangster with the black 22"s and tinted windows but it looks absolutely superb and makes me smile every time I see it. My other cars are an M3 and a Porsche 993 4S and I love the comparative comfort of the RRS especially over the gouged Scottish roads and fact that speed really isn't a factor in the enjoyment of the car - quite unlike the other two. This makes it extra relaxing to drive as I'm not constantly watching my speed or the rear view mirror for blue lights! The power is ample and I'm looking forward to some nice long drives in the coming months.

One thing I've noticed is that the transmission tunnel on the driver's side sometimes heats up quite significantly (doesn't seem to on the passenger side even with the heating controls at the same level) so that it can actually be uncomfortable to rest my left leg against it - my natural cruising position. This seems a surprising and obvious flaw - has anyone else noticed it?

The other concern I have with the car is a distinct rattle which appeared pretty much on day 1, coming from somewhere around the instrument binnacle, steering column or windscreen. It seems to occur only once the car has warmed up - then doesn't go away- and for the life of me I can't work out what it is. It's pretty depressing on a brand new £87k car and even embarrassing..especially when it first appeared when I was proudly showing off the new acquisition to my family
Needless to say neither my 6 year old BMW or 17(!) year old Porsche have this problem - I'll take it back to the dealer but I have a bad feeling about whether they'll be able to resolve it. Has anyone else experienced trim rattles like this?

Can relate to some of those observations. One of my other toys is a 993 C4 cab with bone-jarring Bilstein suspension and modified exhaust bordering on the 'offensive' . The contrast with magic carpet ride and civilisation of the RRS is rather marked to say the least. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

No big concerns with mine but the screen isn't quite level, the lights appear to be setup too high and there is no obvious place to put the keys. Otherwise loving it.

fkarim: what should the correct tyre pressure be?

If you press the starter button without your foot on the brake you will be able to access the "Service Menu" in the dash board by pressing the Menu button on the steering wheel. Scroll to Tyre Pressures and the TPMS screen will come up. On that there are two sets of numbers for each tyre. The number in square brakets [38] is the required tyre pressure, the other number is the measured pressure. Otherwise if you open the driver's door, down to the left just above the sill is a chart with all the pressures for each size of wheel and the loading of the car. Felt I should give an update for this. Dealer eventually located the rattle after several test drives and "dismantling over three quarters of the dash", which was apparently a loose hevac unit. LR told them to drill holes and actually rivet it in place which worked - anyway, a thousand miles later it's still ok.
I forgot to mention the hot transmission tunnel when I dropped it off but did when I was picking it up - they said another owner had complained of this. In fact, it's almost completely resolved now so they obviously repositioned the offending wire in the search for the rattle. Definitely worth taking it in for if you have this problem.

You're fortunate you've only experienced one dashboard rattle. I have had 3. One disappeared when my local stealer did the blower wire recall but the other 2 are persistent. My car went in for service last week and the stealer ignored my request to investigate the other rattles. Its a fact of life with L-R products. They're not screwed together as well as the German competitors so owners invariably have to put up with trim rattles and squeaks
