Front/rear diff oil change & transfer box

hi, I've been doing some reading about front/rear diff oil change, the best I found is the great link to disco3 with directions and pics, my question is are the oil levels/amounts the same for a RR sport, also what about transfer box oil and amount. Mr. Green

Yes, exactly the same. Thumbs Up

Transfer Box is fill to spill (1.5l). By the book, LR's own (and expensive) "Special Transfer Box Oil" should be used, but quite a few of us have used the same Castrol Syntrax as in the diffs. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Mmmmm just phoned Land Rover and they tell me front rear diff takes 2.1 litres and transfer box takes 3 litres, that's not correct is it?

Yes, thought they were way of the mark, and it's ok to use same oil in diff and transfer box, So if I get 4 litres diff oil that should be adiquate for all 3.. Sorry for being bit dumb it's just want to make sure as its about 50 mile round trip to Land Rover.

I used this in all three and haven't noticed any issues: http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/tyk500010...-311-p.asp Yes, 4 litres needed to cover it. Thumbs Up

PS: You may find it usedful to have a syringe/pump to get it in. I use one of these: http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/vs405-oil...3857-p.asp Wink

Also, take a look at the diff bungs and consider replacing them if they look liable to round off... Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I've been reading about the front diff breather filter causing pressure build up due to the factory filter restricting air flow, so is it recommended to do the filter mod.
