Towbar hitch receiver poll

Bit reluctant to tow my 2 ton caravan at the moment after reading so many failure's. I have the receiver with the 2 inch square hole which takes the towbar hitch. Not the swan next hitch. The tongue weight is 350kg . can we have a poll on this to see how many members have used this receiver and have had no issues what so ever and how many have failed. It appears a lot have failed due to not being inserted correctly

"It appears a lot have failed due to not being inserted correctly"

Exactly - works fine if inserted correctly. There may be corrosion issues in the old country but out in the colconies this is not such an issue.

Even the swan-necks are absolutely fine when treated properly (removed, greased etc.). Just check it carefully and keep an eye on it, and you should have no reason to worry. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I had a letter from LR for a recall for mine. Took it to them and they checked it, took bout an hour but mine came back fine. I tow a twin axle swift caravan which is weighing in at around the 2 ton mark, I also tow a trailer and race car weiging in at over 2 ton. I have had no problems at all.
What I will say is that when at LR they advised me that mine passed as I don't leave the ball in all the time, when not using it I remove it and keep it in great condition.
They were saying that a lot are failing and they are fitting new tow bars that you can see when not towing. I really don't like the look of these so I am glad mine passed.
My opinion is when not using the ball remove it and keep it in good condition.
