United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
Command Shift operation question on RRS 2012

Hi,

I have recently bought a 2012 RRS HSE SDV6. I don't think that the Command Shift is working as it should and wanted some confirmation and resolution advice.

If D is selected when I operate the shift paddle the message 'Command Shift Selected' appears in the message centre and I can use the paddles to change gear up or down. To get it out of this mode I have to pull in the right paddle for 2 seconds. I think that in D the gear selection should revert to automatic without me having to manually do it and that only in sports mode should it remain on.

Can anyone confirm how it should behave - can I do anything or do I need to contact LR?

Thanks

Steve

I'm sure paddles are for Sport mode only .....? Might be wrong. Never use them Whistle Visitor from fullfatrr.com

You can use the paddles in D or S and as you say hold the + paddle for 2 seconds to return to Auto MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

. With the rotary selector, rotate to D. The paddle shifts can be used in this mode. Gear selection will revert to fully automatic if use of the paddles is not maintained. D will appear in the instrument panel and the LED by the selector will illuminate.3.To select sport mode with the selector lever, move the lever to the left. With the rotary selector, press the selector down and rotate to S. S will appear in the instrument panel and the LED by the selector will illuminate.

So the manual says 'Gear selection will revert to fully automatic if use of the paddles is not maintained'. I have left it for 30 seconds in the gear selected manually and it doesn't change back to fully automatic. Must be faulty.

I will contact LR.

Thanks

I believe its not timed as such its about the revs used - i might be wrong - my wife kept saying the Sport was over reving - she was catching the paddle by mistake when driving in D - try actualy driving in D after activating paddles - see what happens then - might take a few hundred metres Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

It will change up so as to avoid any unnecessary stress to the engine if you don't change up yourself

Well it does go back to fully automatic mode if I leave it without manually changing gear. It just takes quite a few more yards than a previous one I drove.

Mine depends on what you are doing. If driving steadily, it changes back to auto sooner than if I am in traffic & constantly accelerating and decelerating, or if I am going downhill with no throttle applied. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
