Yep, the first rule of a roundabout, is that traffic on the roundabout has priority over those wishing to join it, whether its a big one or a mini one.

As I understood, you are supposed to give way to traffic from your right as you stop at the roundabout. But if she had used the roundabout as it was designed to be Used; i.e. drive around the island and not lazily cut across it! You both, imho should have been able to negotiate at the same time.
