Transmission service advice needed!

Guys,

I desperately need some advice.
I've given my RRS TDV6 to Bristol Transmissions today for a flush and oil etc.
My vehicle is an 07 and has 79,000 miles.
I thought it was going to be straight forward but they are saying that they've read some fault codes between some gear shifts.
They also said that it indicates some wear and would need stripping and rebuilding at a cost of £2,250. Shocked Big Cry
I've noticed that that gear changing isn't as smooth as it was when I first had it but it's hardly noticeable.
I've read threads on here that some forum users have had transmissions which they thought were beyond repair and after a service drove like brand new.
I've asked them to carry on with the Megaflush and service plus wipe any fault codes for me even though they said it wouldn't make a difference.

Any thoughts? I was born with a photographic memory. Shame it didn't develop!

Hi Mikey!

Just picked it up from Bristol Transmissions and it's smooth as silk.

Still in work and paperwork in car so will let you know when I pack up tonight Mikey.
I'm not worrying about anything now....it's pointless.
Put it this way.....a colleague dropped my down there in his P reg RR P38 with 179,000 miles on it with the original untouched transmission!

Sorry to hear that, Gaz. Unlucky; wouldn't have expected it at that mileage really (though not unheard of). Sad

Yep, that's one of the codes one hopes never to see...

Still, you now have a nice smooth box. Smile Thumbs Up

Thanks mate. Thumbs Up
Are there any codes there that would concern you?
I've driven it back home from work and it feels great!

Lots of U codes stored; unless you have symptoms then these can be ingnored, but it's often a sign of a low battery. Wink

The only one that stands out to me is B1A55-14. Have you noticed any issues at all?

I've not really felt anything that would concern me.
The only thing I can think of is that sometimes I felt a very gentle noise some times when slowing down and coasting to a standstill as it drops down a gear.
I also noticed a small thump when moving the command shift between forward and reverse.
I'm making it sound worse than it sounds.
This seems to have disappeared!!

What does the last code mean?....do I want to hear? Whistle I was born with a photographic memory. Shame it didn't develop!

Not a code I have ever seen before, but it would appear to be an electrical "monitoring" issue, instead of a mechanical issue.

Yes, those will have been cured with the TC/box recon. Wink

I believe possible causes of the B1A55-14 could be the restraints module or cam/crankshaft sensor and probably other things. I imagine it's one to leave until (and if) something happens but others may know more. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I can concur with that completely, having just spent >£4k on the D3 (turbo + torque converter + other stuff)! It does give you a slight grin to know that your car is now driving almost as if new. Very Happy Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
