What year is your car? The facelifted car (end of 2009 onwards) has a misfuel device. I once put the petrol nozzle in mine and it shut a flap in the filler after I had put about 50 pence in it. There is a tool in the boot to reset it, I then brimmed it with diesel and all was fine!

A friend has an 07 D3 and filled with petrol - the car drove off and shortly after the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and very very shortly after the engine shut down.

Yes I did the same on my 13 plate RRS and as soon as it had started it stopped very soon and it was then that I realised that it was petrol that I was putting in.I then changed to diesel and filled the tank as it was nearly empty annd found out that I had put in about 50p worth and did not worry as it was drowned by the diesel. At no time did I have to use the yellow misfuel key. |
