Hi Can anyone tell me if it is ok to fit 255/55/19 tyres to a RRS 2006, the tyres that are on it are 255/50/19

You can run 255/55/19; I do just that. Make sure your insurance company is happy with it. Mine is happy.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi, rather than start a new post.
I have a 2006 RRS S/C and just acquired a set of 2015 RRS 20" wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S tyres. Size 255/55/20. I beleive this is the Std tyre fitted here in Australia. Previously on earlier models they were 255/55/19 or 255/50/20.
Has anything changed i.e. diff ratios because the diameter of the new wheel/tyre is greater than the 285/35/22 on the RRS now.(approx) 759 dia. compared with (approx)788 dia.

I'm running 21" rims with 275/45 tyres form a 2015 car on my 12 plate S/C, they fit fine and have not had any issues. Guess I'm now tempting fate.

They fit ok. the only difference is the RRS1 wheels have a 53mm offset and the RRS2 a 49mm offset so they sit out slightly further. Have actually posted a couple of pictures previous of them fitted on the car.

Yes Muddywheels you are most likely right with your STD sizes I didn,t have any to measure up.

Col your wheels are 21" and are a different pattern to the 20"s I got. Are yours from a special 2015 RRS model??? Iwill post some photos of mine as soon as I can upload them.
But the question still remains are the 2015 models running a different set of diff.ratios. because the higher profile tyre would mean 110kph instead of 100kph in my RRS( Will be checked by GPS)

Sorry I was replying more into response to Muddy that RRS2 Will Fit the RRS1 with no apparent issues. The Wheels I have fitted are just a Standard 21" Option there is nothing special about them over and above they are the Diamond Cut one's.

As regards to the speedo reading when checked against the GPS with 275/45 x 21 tyre at 30mph it reads 31/32 mph at 50mph it reads 52/53 and at 70mph it reads 74/75 so not really a tremendous variation. I really don't think diff ratio's are going to matter to much in terms of the speedo over reading it will be down to Tyre profile on what ever diameter rim you choose to use more than anything.

Yes thats right.
As the ones I got Hold of are 20" but with 255/[b]55/20 tyres I might have a problem.
I queried yours being 21" and a different style. Maybe out here 2015 means a 2014 model over there. I don't know as I didn't see the RRS that they came off.
Anyway here is a photo of them if anyone can help indentify them. Definately Genuine made in Germany.

The reasons that they might had put such a high profile tyre on would be :
Economy -But this would require a different speedo calibration.
Overall Ratio - meaning the diff. ratios have been changed. This being my orginal question.
Does anyone know ?

That is A Standard 20" Rim of a RRS2. A 255/55 x 20 Tyre/Wheel combination gives a overall diameter of 789mm, a 275/45 x 21 gives a overall diameter of 781mm. which is about 1% difference. I would imagine the reason it is such a high profile tyre is so that it is has a comparable overall diameter that of the 21" option, the same as the 22" rim option probably has 40 profile. I would not think L/R will change the diff ratios depending on whether a customer has specified 20" 21" or 22" rims they would compensate with a different profile tyre.

I have just seen a 2015 RRS with the same wheels as yours. So 20" standard 21" option.
I was not suggesting a different diff. ratio amongst 2015 models. But did they change it between RRS1 and RRS2 ??? as the difference in rolling Diameter is quite a lot.

I wouldn't know if they changed ratios between the RRS1 and RRS2 but as I say I am running 21" rims from a RRS2 on a RRS1 and the speedo difference is with the 21" rim's at 30mph on the speedo the car is actually doing 31/32 mph. and at 70mph it is between 74/75mph. as the 275/45 x 21 and the 255/55 x 20 wheels have virtually the same overall diameter/ circumference I would have thought you would have a similar variation.
