You have to pull the emergency release VERY hard. Pull it until you think something's going to break, then pull it a bit more - it really can take that much!

Yep, it takes a lot more than that, hence the need to use the jack handle or similar. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

If you do manage to release the cable, you will need to re-latch the cable inside the Electronic Park Brake module. Disco Mikey done a excellent write up on how to unjam and re-latch.

I have bent a few Jack handles pulling the release. They can be very, very tight |

Thanks for the help guys, I tried to pull the release by putting a screw driver through the loop but no joy I'll try the jack handle method tomorrow is it possible to break the release by pulling too hard? Also when I press the button I can hear the motor turning be it doesn't sound like it's moving anything just free spinning, is there like a plastic cog wheel that turns a worm gear or something?

The prescribed method is to put the supplied screwdriver through the hole in the jack handle. It has been known for some release cables to snap.
Sometimes it can be re-latched on re-application of the EPB or with a diagnostic tool. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

Pull harder In all seriousness, I have had them so tight, I have had to straddle the centre console and physically bent the jack handle, they have been that tight. If you drag it onto the back of a recovery truck, you risk damaging a whole lot more than the EPB module... |

Well no one could release my EBR and they had no option but physically drag my RRS on to the back of a very large break down truck . This took three hours near La Rochelle. See my post stuck in France.

Still no joy get release to work bent the jack handle and smacked myself in the nose, I've booked into a specialist up here in Aberdeen (who it's just been to 2 weeks ago for a service) they suggested I will need a new module what sort of bill would I be looking at to get this done? Cheers. |
