Faulty brake pedal switch (order on eBay or from Duckworths and replace - it is a 5 minute job)

Anyway just a quick update. I was away on hols and just back so sent the car to the dealer yesterday. They came back that they think they know what's wrong and its a camshaft sensor fault or wire leading to it. Anyway they want to keep my car to make sure they have fixed the issue. If it shows up again they said they will have to replace the sensor. |

I am thinking the same Paddi. They have the car since Thursday. There was a wire lose I was told Thursday. Friday it was to do with the sensor and they wanted to keep it to see if the fault reappears and that they wanted to hold onto the until today or tomorrow. As I was away today I told hem I would call them tomorrow to see what the story was. Fingers crossed I twill get it back tomorrow FIXED

Looking at the workshop manual for the TDV6 - says to replace the camshaft position sensor (CMP) it is necessary only to remove the LH EGR valve to gain access to the sensor. So doesn't sound like a huge job (an hour?). Sensors usually seem to cost between £40 and £150.

Just a quick update. They are replacing the sensor now as the quick fix has not worked.. Waiting for part to come in and check that car is fine before we get it back. |

Just another update. It seems I misunderstood over the phone what the fault is and its actually a Crankshaft Sensor not a camshaft sensor that has gone. So it seems that the gearbox has to be taken out to replace this and its about a 7 hour job. Part only arrived in today. They said they are hoping to start tomorrow as they have a couple of mechanics in and if not Monday. |
