this is starting to rip my knitting

if you are driving along at 1500 on the rev counter I get a whining noise , lift your foot off the gas and it goes away put foot back on the gas and its back , not noticed the problem at any other revs just seems to be when your sitting at 1500 revs

any help would be great

Alternator, or aux belt tensioner?

Presumably it's still present when the car is stationary, and is not road speed related

Just had the alternator replaced last week (was making the noise before replacement) , i can only hear it when driving along at 1500revs , I'll check if it's doing while stationary this morning

did you find out what it was? I noticed a squeal at 1800 rpm today. very high pitch. annoying as lol

Nope , had it at gibsons in Cumnock , got a chassis ear put on the car and driven about , they have no idea where the noise is coming from either , 3 different garages had a look and the advice I got was "turn the stereo up" 😂😂

Mine sounds like a wheel bearing noise

Let me know if you have any success getting to the bottom of it

funny you mention the stereo. Ive always had radio on. today i didnt. suppose i need to turn it back on

Mine makes a whine on acceleration (tdv8). Indy reckoned it might just be induction noise. Drives perfect though and the stereo tip is a good one. If they say it's ok, that will do for me.
Having come from various fords, I have to say I'm turning into a paranoid owner with this. Every squeak etc I am fearing the worst. This forum is fantastic for info, but looking at some of the horror shows it can turn you into a nervous wreck....
