Hi all, is there anywhere in the Shropshire area that carries out this work as I'd like to get mine flushed, my rrs sometimes doesn't like going into 6th gear unless you put your foot down after 60 mph,, would the flush help this at all or have I got another problem?

Having the gearbox mega-flushed is a good idea as preventative maintenance as I'm sure you will have read. Try a PM to Geoff. and/or Flack as they periodically arrange a tour of Northernish parts doing flushes.

Re your delay changing to sixth - are you sure there is a problem? The gearbox will have adapted to your driving style so not all boxes have exactly the same behaviour but mine usually changes from 5th to sixth at around 60 ish on the open road. Putting the foot down usually results in no change or a change down not a change up?

When fully warmed up and cruising at a steady speed it seems to use 6th even at quite low speeds so it is hard to say what's normal and what's not.

Do you have any other symptoms like harsh shifting, bumps or vibration? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

hi thanks for your response, as an example I have a 8mile drive to work in the morning 3 miles on country roads then a 6mile straight run up the a5, monday morning it changes fine going into 6th at just over 55 mph then Tuesday I'm going up the a5 at 70mph and it's still in 5th gear and will stay in 5th unless I put my foot down quick then pull off and it will change, there's no vibration or odd noises so was hoping the gearbox flush might help

With only a short drive, what you're seeing could be that the box has not got up to temperature so won't go into 6th. Have you noticed it on longer drives? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

^ ^ pretty much what I was thinking. Been doing some live data logging recently and the engine temperature doesn't hit fully warm until driven about 12-15 miles with all but the first couple on motorway at 70 mph.

You are presumably talking about behaviour in 'normal' and not 'Sport mode? Laughing 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Yeah in normal mode not sport lol
I first thought it was a temperature thing as I've had 4x4 autos for years and there all the same but this like I said Monday was fine it went into 6th after about 3miles then Tuesday 7miles down the road and I have to make it go into 6th myself, it dose this all the time but once you've had it in 6th it works fine for the rest of the trip, though in the winter it did it every time I used it, is there a temp switch in the gearbox somewhere that might be faulty maybe?
