@camelrock - probably no more than the suspension moving up and down thousands of times every time you drive the car!!!!!!

I would be more worried about unnecessary wear in the air compressor. 07MY RRS TDV6

I don't see that either. My compressor switches on at start up whether I have lowered to access height or remained at normal.
I'm also a great believer in using machinery is less detrimental to it's life span than not.

Yes but on start and when the car is running the air compressor is just topping the tank up - when you lower the vehicle each time you get out, you are wasting air that has to be pumped back in on next start - much more effort than just topping up. Lowering every time you stop the car or let someone in or out substantially increases wear on the compressor - well not so much wear on the compressor directly, but increased clogging of the desiccant which in turn causes heat in the compressor and wear.

The more the compressor is used the more moisture is being sucked into the desiccant. 07MY RRS TDV6

I don't think anyone is right or wrong here, but I would personally rather use all the functionality of my car than not and worry about a compressor replacement as or if required.
Plus my wife is a short-arse and wouldn't be able to get in otherwise

I know........! Use it once in a while to keep things flowing and working

Auto access height is standard on the rrs's that are being built now I believe. The paper I saw says it engages when the car is stopped and a door is opened. I don't see that's a lot more convenient than just pushing a button really.
