United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Newbie to RRSPORT With a poorly RRS

Help needed my poor Range Rover isn't running properly it started a few days ago , I notice whilst going up a small hill black smoke the it went in to limp mode 😢. This happened around 6 times it went in to a local garage today for them to put on the diagnostic machine and fix. They have inspected all breather pipes and the thought it was the EGR so they cleaned it. But now the car is worse then before it whent in and the smoke is a lot worse ??? On the bill they've put an advisory which says The vehicle has a power link fitted which may cause over fueling and smoke when accelerating ?? Evan though this has been fitted over 2 years and never had this problem before ??? Has anybody had the same problem or any ideas what's causing this problem thanks inaddvance 😉

You don't say how old your car is or what engine, if an early model then I would look into blanking the EGR's then see how it performs.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Scroll over the picture of the sport below his username and if it's up to date, then he has a 2008 TDV8. Thumbs Up
Boom, can't you take the powerlink off? Then see how it runs. I wasn't aware you could clean the EGR's I thought you had to replace them, not clean them. Confused Where did you take it for diagnosis?

Have the intercollegiate pipes been checked for splits or delamination? That's the usual cause of that Bodsys Brake Bible

Another thing to check would be the actuator arm on your turbo(s).

My old TDV8 did it when bowling up a steep hill... limp mode the lot.

The problem was solved by removing the BAS map.

Pete (BAS) felt a sticky actuator arm coupled with the sustained maximum boost was the probable cause. RRS gone

Thanks for the replies Very Happy I rang the garage today and they have confirmed that they haven't checked the pipes as of yet and they thought a quick spray of EGR cleaner would clear the problem as the EGR was blocked ???..so there next step is to check the pipes as anybody got any links which will show me which pipes to check as they can't see my car until next Wednesday Wink here's my year and engine size Range Rover Sport TDV8 on a 2008 plate......

just lift the bonnett up and look down, they are two identical pipes running from the fron of the vehicle into the engine, remove these black rubber pipes and inspect them, it takes less then 5 minutes and replacement ones cost around £20/30 each at a indie, more from a main dealer, if one has perished, then replace them both 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))
