2015 3.0SDV6 new engine feedback and MPG - very impressive!

Thought I would feedback on some of the positives of the new 2015 3 litre 306BHP engine since I have had the car from the 1st March. It feels a much smoother engine than the older 3.0 twin turbo set up (drove a friends car to compare).

Bloody impressive to say the least. The car is still running in only done 500 miles so far so not really pushed it to the limits as yet but a small press of the throttle brings out immense torque that really pushes you back in to the seat - the power delivery seems so smooth and forthcoming.

In 2006 I owned a new E60 535d M Sport that was running 272 BHP twin turbo 3.0D and it was an amazing engine with huge amounts of torque but the new RR engine seems even better than that.

What is really impressive though is the cars MPG figures! For a car that has been barely run in the figures are astonishing! Here are some screenshots for various journeys in the car - some long distance, some short and as you can see they returns are staggering for a car of this nature. Nearly 40mpg all day!

I also think that LR have updated the accuracy of the Incontrol app as I manually calculated my cars total MPG for the first tank full and it is pretty much accurate Thumbs Up

Don't believe what the app tells you! It is VERY optimistic, I have one of the earlest Evoques fitted with it (so easrly that build was delayed 6 months to have it!) and while it is great for most things the mpg is best taken with a big pinch of salt. I use an online fuel monitoring website called Fuelly.com and that gives mpg per tank and averages it out over a tankful, over a year and also will tell you cost per mile if you add in things like depreciation, servicing etc etc. You can even post a link to your mpg in your signature here!
Here is the Fuelly dashboard page for my current Evoque, I can also access the pages for my last Evoque and my Defender and will add my SDv6 to it when that arrives at the end of the month http://www.fuelly.com/car/land_rover/range...Tim/248608 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

SVR is 680 Nm, SDV6 is 700 Nm. Power and weight are the key.

Hit the big Five Oh today - 50.3mpg that is! Driving into Stirling got stuck behind a long tailback stuck behind 2 cars towing caravans with a large truck behind them and no place to overtake so sat back at 40-45mph for 12 miles on the flat, straight section of the A811 and watched the TC climb. It did get up to 50.5mpg at one point but by the time I got the iPhone primed I had to climb the flyover over the M9.......... Big Cry Big Cry The photo was taken when I had to stop in the line of traffic trying to get into the town centre - 10 minutes waiting for those darned caravans to make up their minds which way they were going........ the silly season has started, living in a National Park isn't always great!

Makes up for the hammering I gave it yesterday! I'm so enjoying this car - the Evoque was OK but this car is just so much fun when you want to play and it is a diesel! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hope the collection goes well Alex, if it's a brand one then don't get your hopes up - my first trip was from Barnet around the North Circular to Hanger Lane and I was impressed with the average of 37mpg through Saturday afternoon football traffic heading to Wembley. I had high hopes for my next trip which was west London to Central Scotland - a nice gentle steady 70mph motorway cruise the length of the UK............. 29.9mpg but on a tight new engine and average speed for the trip was around 65mph when you take into account slow spells on the M6. Since 28th March I have covered nearly 1400 miles and the mpg is improving all the time. I don't use the car for commuting and it rarely does trips into the center of big cities - mostly fast A roads and the Scottish motorways. It is turning into such a fun car though, more than enough get up and go for me and so quiet and comfortable. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm in! Collecting my new AB on Monday, I think!
The new mpg figures look pretty good, as I only get 31.8 average from my 2013 model with 22" wheels. Best I've ever had was 34 on a long steady run in France last year.

Thanks Tim I will keep a keen eye on the consumption, I should have it broken in pretty quick as I travel back home to Scotland every 2 to 3 months as I'm from Stornoway and just happen to live in beds for work reasons.
It is a brand new my15 which hopefully will impress as I'm coming out of a 5 month old cayenne, will be interesting to compare the both especially now its got 306hp woohoo.

Pah, you bunch of old penny pinchers! You just dropped +/- £80k on a new motor and you're marvelling at a few extra MPG whilst, presumably, lighting a cigar with a burning twenty quid note and browsing "Small Countries For Sale" in Exchange & Mart. Rolling with laughter

I am very pleased with my 245 BHP / 24.9 MPG. Everybody loves antiques, right? A piece of history? Big Cry L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!
