Thank you gentlemen for your kind offers but I think I have found a suitable replacement. As I said at the beginning I will post more when I have a result.

My last post on this forum before moving over to D4. Whistle

The RRS, which I owned from early February was just so unreliable that I got the dealer to take it back for what I paid for it. First the fuel gauge fault stopped me in my tracks, then 2 alternator faults resulting in major work replacing the alternator and all the wiring loom associated with it. Finally, the air con failed to deliver cold air when the temperature rose for the first time this year. I had used the AC previously but not in the cold setting. It seemed to work OK but when selected to cold just gave out ambient air. It turned out the compressor was NOT connected to the wiring loom. Not only that but it could not be connected as the 2 parts of the plug were 12 inches apart Question

The best guess of the techies was that the engine had been removed and not replaced correctly and the wiring loom misrouted. Their words were "replaced by an incompetent person." That fact alone meant that the LRA promise was invalid. The supplying dealer, who got the news from the repairing dealer, did not argue just imediatley agreed to replace it with no cost to me. It would seem that the vehicle was part exchanged but that the FSH was not kosha. Ironically it is now 100%, but I have lost all faith in it as I have never managed 50 miles without a fault.

My replacement had to come from within the dealers company stock and they didn't have an equivalent RRS. I could have waited until they did but opted for a MY12 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE.

How do I feel - a bit gutted as I really liked the RRS to drive but it spent more time in the dealers than with me. The disco will be fun and I am looking forward to going to bed at night and sleeping.

Thanks for your virtual friendship- off to D4. Thumbs Up

Presumably he told you the D4 was bad because he wanted to sell you the RRS...? Whistle Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
