Hi, i have heard that you need to run the air con system regulary to stop the seals from drying out and possibly leaking. Is this correct and if so how often and how long should you run the air conditioning?

The last time I saw this discussed I think the suggestion was run it at least once a month for 30 minutes.

Mine is on all of the time - it's climate control so just set your preferred temperature and let it do its thing!  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Does leaving it on all the time have much effect on the MPG?

None.

Whilst the technical side of this is true it does not apply to your vehicle. When you deselect climate control it actually keeps the aircon on but at a very low level (5%) to prevent the seals from drying out and leaking. The aircon is only fully off if you turn the HEVAC panel completely off.

I guess JLR gave it some thought for once.
