Fan Delay... Help Please

My fan (screen blower) fails to start up for a few minutes in the morning...

LED fan speed indicators glow orange... Wait a few minutes, then whoosh... full speed....
- maybe happens when particularly cold.

Its a MY05.

With thanks in advance

Mine does the same with the air con set. I just assumed it was clever enough to wait for the engine to warm up enough to blow warm air not cold.

Same here unless I put it on defrost mode. Although I've also had the fan continue to run after the ignition was off and tapped the relay under the bonnet which stopped it immediately. Maybe the two are related and the relay is struggling to switch itself on or off Confused

I believe it's a feature to stop the car being pumped full of cold air until the heaters are up to temperature. Thumbs Up
I had the same on my Audi's and BMW's - logical idea really Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I'm sure it's a fault. Can last 3 or 4 minutes. 2022 P440e AB

So can mine when it's really cold out there.

Take it in to LR if you're still unsure.

Bump....

Guys - this is definitely a fault. There is no delay feature.
- just posting this for future forum reference.

Strathearn Engineering replaced the Final Stage Resistor in the passenger footwell.
- all good. Instant fan blowing.

Cheap fix too. Part was around £50 + vat. Less than £100 inc labour. 2022 P440e AB

Thank very much for the relay advice, took it out the other day to get a replacement but couldn't get one so put old one back in and since then it's worked fine with no faults.

Any standard 4 pin relay would do the trick. How long it lasts, of course, will be quality dependant. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
