Hi all..

My O/S front suspension indicator (above the wheel) in the 4x4 info screen when in access mode _always_ flashes red / white. Doesn't matter where I'm parked, in which direction, it's _always_ the same wheel.. and will even stay flashing when moving slowly in access mode even though the camber of the road is changing for example.

Also, I decided to wash my RRS for the first time myself today as I had a bit of time and decided to raise it to off-road height so I could get under the arches easier with the jet wash.. but it took forever to raise the front - you could feel the rear was already at the desired height - and then I had a message appear on the screen on the dashboard saying 'suspension raising very slowly'.

Are these 2 issues likely to be linked? and if so, am I looking at the compressor or the likes?

The car's already been back to the dealer (non-LR) a few times to have various bits sorted and it's going back again on the 3rd March. Twice I've mentioned this indicator and twice I've been told "it's just telling you it's on an uneven surface".. but I'm not convinced, especially as mentioned, it's the same corner, no matter where I'm parked.

Unfortunately I don't have any access to diagnostics tools yet, so I can't plug it in and see if it's something listed within that, but if anyone has any ideas that I can then throw back at the dealer and finally get it sorted, then I'd be grateful.

I'm in NW London.

It seems it's not just off-road height that's affected, any raising of the suspension results in the front taking forever with the message appearing on the dash (I normally leave it in access mode when parked, but alas, I won't be touching it until I get it sorted now as I don't want it stuck in access mode).

It's a real PITA. Luckily I've had everything sorted thus far under warranty, but it's just yet another thing to go wrong in the 3 months that I've had it.

Thanks for the thought about the sensor. I didn't think that it was just doing that on the same wheel for fun.

The slow raising could indicate a tired compressor or a valve block issue. The valve blocks aren't expensive - about £100 each - and relatively easy for a garage to fit. There are three of them, one for each axle and one for the reservoir tank that also directs air to each axle block.

The red line above the wheel indicates a possible height sensor issue - although it can also be caused by the valve block. A height calibration isn't a long/expensive operation so probably best to start there. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks mate... it's back off to the (non-LR) dealership on the 3rd March.. so will tell them this time that I'm not excepting the "it's on an uneven surface" this time.. fix it.

Also now had a rear parking sensor go down the pan and randomly the head unit will state "low power mode" and won't turn up to loud volumes... not having a great deal of luck with this motor.. but alas, hopefully when everything is done, there won't be much left to need to work on (fingers crossed!) and thankfully all having been done via warranty thus far.

Well the dealership have had the car for the week.. can't seem to reproduce the low power mode for the stereo. They're going to carry out some more tests on Monday apparently but hopefully, it was just a minor thing that has corrected itself (maybe the battery had been drained quite a bit when they had it before and my mianly short journeys hadn't quite replenished it properly).

After telling them I'd spoken to someone at Land Rover about the "uneven surface" issue.. they've finally decided to replace the sensor

I don't know what the cause of the suspension collapse issue at the front is as yet, but apparently everything else has been rectified (suspension raising slowly, rear parking sensor, slight pull to the left, were the mechanical issues IIRC).. so hopefully all will be good again on Monday / Tuesday when they deliver the car back to me.

Well, they replaced the height sensor related to the suspension problems, but the raising issue is still apparent (argh!!).

It seems to raise fine the first time, but if you do it a couple of time, the rear raises fine, but the front takes "forever" and the 'Suspension raising vehicle very slowly' (or words to that effect) message appears on the dash.

It has however, once or twice, produced this message and slow raising on the first attempt... so it's off yet again on Monday

Well it was due to be delivered back to me today. They've had it since last Monday(!). After trying to claim there was nothing wrong with it, and that I Must keep emptying the compressor tanks (I don't sit there playing with the heights! it goes into access mode when parked for easy of our young lads getting in and out and only goes into off-road height when I want to wash under the wheel arches).. they called me yesterday to arrange re-delivery and said that they had reconfigured the suspension.. I figured it was a possibility, due to the height sensor having been replaced on the front and that the rear raises without issue... alas, I got a call lunchtime today saying my car was "playing up again" and that they've now had to order another part that's due in tomorrow.. argh!

I've had this motor since October, and thus far, I've had nothing but problems with it. Luckily everything has been dealt with under the 6 month warranty I got with it, but out of the 5 months I've owned it, they've had it back for about 5-6 weeks

I don't know what component they're replacing as yet, but will be asking when I get the call to say it's done again.

All in all, with the journeys back and forth, there's been about 1000 extra miles put on it (unfortunately, the place I got it from isn't local to me, but figured they could put it right, especially as there were other arguments I had with them about certain things). It's clocked ~70k now, so 1000 miles isn't something I'd sniff at if I'd put them on it, it's just principle in that I seem to get it back with either half a job done, or the fact it's just somewhat of a lemon. The only reason I've stuck with it, is that hopefully once everything's done, it'll be pretty robust with the fixes they've had to do.

Time to start studying up on the best warranty to get as the current one expires in April and the way things have been going so far, I certainly don't want to be without one!

I've wanted an RRS for years, but right now, wish I'd never swapped my Focus RS for it

Ian H i feel your pain i too bought my car car late last year december and so far It has had

rear discs & pads changed as a dodgy caliper carrier warped the discs
arb bushes, lower wishbones, ball joints
4 x shock absorbers
new spare wheel winch
and awaiting to be fitted nearside front driveshaft
and yet still it is still doing more knocking underneath than some of the 'shops' down Soho
the new breaks are squealing so loud i want to sink in the seat out of embarrasement
i too have just noted that my 4x4 screen is doing the same as yours and same wheel funny enough

I've always wanted a RRS and was so excited to get one but i too am now so regretting selling my bmw for this i plan to that eventually it will come good if not i may be back at the german dealerships sooner rather than later

if you get a warranty make sure if covers the turbo's

they are great when going well, had mine just over a year, only fault if the FBH not wanting to fire up but with some life support its getting there.
replaced front pads, serviced it and had a gearbox flush but they are standard maintenance.

although previous owner did. compressor. egrs. glowplugs. alternator. battery. front and rear arms. all discs. all belts

don't become the "previous owner"

Well, I got the car back on Friday. After speaking to service in the morning and them telling me it'll be coming back when the driver has returned.. I asked them to give me a call when they're leaving as I'm not currently at home... I got a call about an hour and half later... "the driver's outside your house and there's no answer"... no "£^% Sherlock! They parked the car on my driveway and posted the key through the letterbox as they couldn't wait 20 mins for me to get back, which was a bit of a PITA as I wanted to test things out before the driver went on his way again.

Anwyay... thankfully, the suspension issue appears to have been rectified. I'm not sure yet as to what was actually replaced, but I am planning on asking for a complete printout of the job sheets for my car so I know, and if I sell it in the future, I can hand over the information to the next owner what has actually been changed and when.

I think to date, I've had:

• Switch in driver's seat replaced that caused multiple electrical failures, such as sunroof closure, memory seat positions, mirrors and steering column not adjustable, etc
  
• Front wishbones
  
• Front ARB bushes
  
• Front ball joints
  
• Front height sensor(s) to fix the flashing red indicator in the 4x4 info screen
  
• Brake discs all round
  
• Brake discs all round 1000 miles later due to warping, despite them telling me "you've driven this hard" (I haven't at all).. checking behind the front wheels, the calipers are brand new now! so I wonder what the problem was
  
• Front calipers
  
• Something related to suspension that caused the raising issue (unknown at this point)
