Range Rover Sport Problems 206 4.2 S/C

Sorry if this has been repeated after reading some other posts, but just think this is a little bit different

When driving on Motorway/Dual Carriageway/A road after 10 /15 minutes I get the amber warning light come on dash (far left) saying that there’s a suspension fault and vehicle will lean when cornering.

Drive on a lillte bit further and get HDC not available warning, Special Programs not available, Cruise Control saying Driver Intervened and cancels itself and Suspension lowered also 2 more amber warning lights as per picture. It still drives OK but not with any of the features listed.

The daft thing is, I live quite rural and it does not happen when driving on a B roads or country lanes with loads of potholes or uneven surfaces…… any ideas please, also any recommendations of where to take it to get it checked out in Cornwall/Devon - thanks

First things to consider:

Battery and alternator voltages.
Brake bulbs and switch.

Given the cruise control saying "Driver Intervened", by bet would be on the brake switch.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

lose height sensor ?

I would go with lost for words, as hes mentioned exactly what am about to write,
Have a very strong feeling its the alternator.
When the alternator starts to spike the voltages, this usually happens 99% of the time,
By again i could be wrong, but thats my advice.

With the RRS and D3/4s having complex electronic systems, low or high voltage can cause havoc and it always the first thing to check. Particularly at this time of year too as batteries start to struggle in cold weather. I would suggest that a multimeter is an essential piece of equipment for any RRS owner.

@ the OP. Do the heights appear normal on the 4x4 info screen?

Another consideration, given the "lean in corners" message could be ABS sensors and the steering angle sensor (SAS). Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

A good, fully charged battery standing charge should be 12.7/12.8 volts.

The alternator will vary, partly depending on the battery, but 14.3-14.5 is quite normal. Up to about 15.2 is seen with poorer batteries/colder conditions. Anything in the low 13.Xs and below or high 15.Xs and above would be bad.

Im more interested in the full tasnk of fuel ha ha, I bet this is because of the drop in prices, is every body driving round on a full tank? 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater )))

Hi, quick update, had battery and alternator checked and its reading 14.4 volts, so assume that there's no probs there!
Will now check brake switch as brake lights and bulbs are all OK .

Anyone with any further ideas are welcomed as the Suspension Fault light in the display is still coming on and Vehicle will lean when Cornering is still being displayed!

If it's like a d3 I had a problem with the connector within the front passenger wheel arch which is a known problem on the d3 ? Not sure if it's the same on the rrs though but might be worth a check ?

The wheel arch wiring and connectors can cause issues but there aren't the signs of a full CANBUS hissy fit and the simple things need to be ruled out first.

I think the most likely culprits are the brake switch, steering angle sensor, ABS sensor or height sensor/associated wiring.

It could also be something ACE related (of which I have no knowledge, I'm afraid). Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Update : New brake switch fitted and had the 'suspension fault vehicle lean when cornering' warning come up.....so it's not the brake switch, battery or alternator .......next??!!! Roger
