Parking Sensors Cost to Replace?

Our parking sensors are not working and we are in a bit of a battle with the garage we have bought from about repairing them Evil or Very Mad

If we were to get them done ourselves how much would we be looking at as a worse case costs? If the loom has to be replaced how long to fit and cost of loom and not from LR but an indie. Has anyone recently had work done that they can share prices with me? PM if not wanting to post on here!

Would I be able to change a sensor myself or even the loom? Do you have to be mechanically minded if instructions are clear? Being a girl do I also have to be male to do the job! Laughing Rolling with laughter Whistle

Hi, ive only done my rear sensors when I replaced my rear bumper. The rear bumper is fairly easy to remove. I bought my sensors and loom from http://www.powerfuluk.com/.
They also have various fitting videos including the rear bumper to give you an idea here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Range-Ro...5d5195227f

The loom was £42.00 delivered and the sensors were £26.00 each for genuine ones, but you can get cheaper ones.
It depends what year your RRS is but these parts are widely available on Ebay and also from a site sponsor Duckworths who are excellent. 2006 4.2 Supercharged Buckingham blue

It's not a big job, biggest job is taking the bumper off, and that only takes 15mins if you're well practiced Thumbs Up

Mmmmm bit of an update...... this work being done at our local 4x4 indie has fallen on its Censored !

Thay have charged £54 for diagnostics to say sensors were inoperable. Well we knew that! Big Cry Now they are quoting over £300 just to take front and back bumpers off to see whether wire or sensors that is causing the problem! Evans Halshaw will not agree to this cost as that is just to take bumpers off not repair what they find when they get the bumpers off so Evans Halshaw are going to pay diagnosis cost before we can pick car up!

Think we are going to attempt this ourselves starting with listening to see if sensors are making the noise/ticking sound.

Can anyone give any advise on how to tell if it is the loom rather than a sensor that is at fault? Or even better someone in West Yorkshire who could do the work without ripping us off! Lol! Shocked

You can tell if a sensor is duff by listening to them (while active, naturally). The ones that don't click are duff. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks Lost For Words. Will be doing that when we pick motor up. I take it if all the sensors are not ticking then it's the loom?

Well, it could still be 4 dead sensors. If it is the loom/module, you may find them all ticking. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I'll happily take your bumpers off for £250 Rolling with laughter
Seriously....that's just a price for RR drivers.......you can afford the car so you can afford double what we'd charge for a regular 4x4 to have work done Big Cry Over for a visit from disco3.co.uk
