At the LRE Dunkeld today I was surprised to find not one but 2 RRSports parked on the lot................. one was a 4.4 HSE and I got to drive it all day. The other is a unique 4.4(yes that is a4.4) Supercharged and by all accounts it should never have left the factory as it is a pre-production. Comments from the owner of the LRE Franchise amounted to descibing it as "Wicked" and very very fast! It is also reported to be very very thirsty!


Looks just like an ordinary S/C but has a 4.4S/c under the bonnet

A 4.4 surely would not be that much different, mind you they are different engines, I think I'd prefer the 4.2 still as it is at least proven in Supercharged form in the Jaguars.

I think that the 4.2 SC engine is basically the same engine as the 4.4 but the capacity decrease is due to the strengthened engine internals (thicker cylinder liners I believe) to cope with the extra pressures due to supercharging. Correct me if I'm wrong though!  Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Not sure, I presumed perhaps wrongly that the 4.4 was the current BMW version with a hooter strapped on.

I think LR have got rid of BMW engines in the Range Rovers (including the Sport) now apart from the TD6 in the 'big' RR - the petrols are all Jaguar derived. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
