Exhaust smoke from under engine??

Just a quick one.... I've just noticed that when I started my '07 TDV8 there was a hell of a lot of exhaust smoke coming from under the front of the car... So I had a proper look and theres a large breather pipe near the front left wheel arch the there was loads of smoke coming from it.... It is a cold morning so there was a lot of smoke from the exhausts too.

I'm guessing this isn't normal? What sort of problem could be causing this?

Many thanks

Hi, I have a 2.7 v6 and mine does this when cold, its the fuel burning heater at a guess which gets the water up to temperature quicker, not sure if the TDV8 had one, but the pipe under the passenger front wheel arch is the exhaust. Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

It is normal.

It's the Fuel Burning Heater(FBH) is there to help the engine to warm up quicly and keep the ideal temperare.

It starts automatically with external temperature below 5C and engine below 75C.

Will then cycle on and off according to those parameters. '08 RRS TDV8

All normal as above, this morning had a lot more smoke for me too, guessing a lot of condensation build up in exhausts. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.
