FBH or not?

OK, another fbh question, looked through a few old threads but did not see the answer is was looking for.
Moved the car out of the garage yesterday to give it a clean after a trip to York and back earlier in the week, no issues, starting fine as always, cleaned car and put back in garage.
This morning went to get it out of the garage and I,m sure if heard the fbh running, tried starting and the battery was flat. My question is, will the heater start without the ignition being on providing the temperature is low enough?.
One other thing is that I never lock the car when it's in the garage,,,,, would this allow the heater to operate.

I'm assuming the noise i heard was the heater running, or is there something else it could be.

I did manage to boost the battery for an hour and the car started fine 2010 RRS, TDV8
