RRS 3.0 TDV6 or 5.0 SC V8

Hello All

New to this forum so please be gentle Smile

Looking to buy a 2009/2010MY RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE or a 5.0 SC V8, can't quite make up my mind yet.
Only doing around 7k miles per year and majority of this maybe short journeys, however I have noticed there a far fewer 5.0 SC RRS's for sale than the 3.0 TDV6.

Are the real world mpg's on the 5.0 of 19mpg and 3.0 31mpg realistic?

Finally, I would like a few extra's like Hybrid TV and the Logic 7 sound system upgrade but not sure how you can "tell" if the RRS's have them? I've found that some dealers are not 100% aware of these upgrades. They think they are just standard options.

Any advice appreciated. TIA Wink

Welcome Thumbs Up

I think anyone will say, if you can live with the fuel bils, then go for the S/C every day of the week, the 5.0 is a monster Cool Thumbs Up

I'd say you need to do a little bit more research on here, but I recon you'd be looking at comparing 15mpg v about 25mpg in the real world over a variety of driving. I'm sure others get more, but it's better to be a little more pessimistic on these sorts of things. Wink

The reason for the seemingly supply shortage is just the above, I don't know what the ratio is, but I'd say maybe 10:1 or even 15:1 of TDV's sold for every S/C.

If you can get the VIN number, you can check the spec on ToPix (Land Rovers support website) and it will list every option as factory standard, also it'll tell you if any recall bullitins are outstanding on a car too Bow down

Google mpg calculator and you'll be able to enter all the variables

Ie annual mileage, mpg, cost per unit of fuel etc for car 1 vs car 2

That will give you a rough estimate how much extra it's going to cost you a year, the only non fixed variable being fuel price

Use the link below

http://www.torquecars.com/tools/annual-fuel-cost-from-mpg.php

Ive used 2 cars, 15 mpg vs 25 mpg, 10k Miles per annum, cost of both diesel and petrol £1.50 (I don't know current UK fuel prices I have long since left)

£4,546.09 for the SC v £2,727.66 for the TDV6

I think you chaps are spot on, my head is saying 3.0 TDV6 and my heart the 5.0 V8 SC !

I think the 15mpg on the 5.0 may give my wife a heart attack though, she will be down the petrol station fairly often Very Happy

Hi I have now registered on TOPIx.

I wonder if somebody could clarify the Logic 7 upgrade only listed as "PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM" on TOPIx? I've seen some RRS's advertised as having Logic 7 but then when I check TOPIx it does not state this option.
Also is Hybrid TV option listed as "TV RECVR HYBRID-DVB-T & ANLOG" or "TV INTEGRAT IN NAVIGATION SCRN" or both? Slightly confused as seen both and just one.

TIA!

New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Hi

I have a 5.0 Autobiography and the Spec. Sheet lists the TV as TV Recvr Hybrid-DVB-T & Anlog. but I do have the Dual View Screen so whether that would make a difference or not I don't know. Lists the Sound System as Premium Sound System which is the Logic 7 System.

By the way buy the Supercharger and sod the mpg. the grin factor is worth it alone.

Cheers
Col

Hi

Have to admit I don't really know what the mpg. is however just did a quick calculation and I reckon it's around 16-17mpg mark, bearing in mind I don't do a lot of long trips these days so I guess that isn't to bad.

I have to be honest and admit that I don't see a lot of point in having 500 horses available either and not using it occasionally so that probably doesn't help, although at my age I ought to know better.

Cheers
Col
