USB/MP3 playing options

having come from a Jaguar XF, I had an iPod/USB Auxiliary Input box in my centre console which allowed me to plug in a USB stick with music on it and play direct through car sound system.

I do not have this box in my RRS but ultimately want to play my USB memory stick music. what are my options?

1. New Stereo which has USB facility?
2. Install an iPod/USB Auxillery Input box if possible?
3. Aux Socket (tried iPod shuffle on that with generic lead and had to turn volume up twice the normal setting and was hissing)

I don't want to spend the earth but do miss using USB sticks to play music

You need the Audio Connectivity Module. Around £270 from LR.

Gives you USB port, IPOD connection as well as phono audio connection. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Once this is installed (plug and play presumably) it would perform the same as my jag one?

My jag one looked like this http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/25922/H...3_08-L.jpg

I don't know how your jag one worked, but mine charges my iphone (4s) and plays the music through it. When not connected, it will default to playing the USB stick.

I can move forward through the tracks with the steering wheel controls. If you want to scroll through tracks or select play lists, you have to do that through the ipod.

I've also recently got a iLayern BT Connector for it which works really well. But of course you cant charge through BT! Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks for the advice. All I am interested in is playing music via USB - does it look similar to Jag one? in as much as it has a USB slot? any pictures?

It has only one USB slot, it separately has a 30pin Apple connector which can be positioned anywhere the cable will reach to. (I have mine in the lower ashtray area (not that I have an ashtray))

I'll try to take a pic when I finish work. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

VPLFE0002 for D3/RRS/FL2

About £270ish

Connects to the connectors on the back of the radio head unit.

Toughest bit is getting the top inner glovebox out. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi

Sold one of these kits to a member not long back. Not 100% sure but I think you will find they are re-branded Dension Kits as I bought a couple of leads for it from them and the L/R Kit was identical to a one they had on there Website.

Not sure if they do it any more as may be obsolete, but may be worth checking out there site www.dension.com as they may have what you are looking for.

Cheers
Col
