Well I will firstly admit Im a noob when it comes to DIY so pls do humor me.

So Im right in that it's just the circuit board that needs replacing?

Can you also explain how to open up the side covers, do they just pop off? Bit hesitant In case I break something. Hence wanna know as much as possible before I attempt it. The tip you gave on the dry weather is also great as it's been raining a lot here lately so that would have been a pain as you mentioned.

Don't suppose you have a link to the aerial you bought?

Hi Flack,

Yes I did read it but had a couple of questions, like in your doc you remove the fakra connector, pass the cable through the base plate after drilling a hole and connect the gps aerial inside the shark fin. But what then? What do u do with the new aerial with the cable with no fakra connector on it? Do u reattach? Connect it to the old cable or pull it down somewhere? it didn't mention this in the doc and Im new to this so appreciate the guidance.

Yes reattach the Fakra connector and then ignore the old aerial lead and thread the new lead down the passenger's side of the car to the Sat nav DVD drive under the passengers seat and connect it to the unit.

Or buy one of these and connect it up and stow the cable under the panel, but you will have a lot of cable to hide.

Done all my work above head lining. Didn't need to run new cables.

That is how I understood it Panda, I would much rather do it your way and solder the old cable onto the new gps aerial board. How did you open the new gps casing?

Did you destroy it by doing so and was it easy to solder the old wire onto the board as in could a total noob do it easy enough?

If you have a moment could you look at my photo on the previous page and confirm if the gps fakra connection is the one on the far left of the nav unit?

The only problem doing it this way is if the cable has got water damage further down inside the cable then it will not last, thats why I went for the new cable run just to be sure, The trouble is with this type of cable once water starts to get inside it acts like a capillary action and just draws more inside.

So the PANDA was lucky doing the work in the roof lining.
Techstyles why don't you get part, leave cable long so work done above head lining. If you get problem later date run cable through.

Yeah reckon so but its still raining so gonna wait for some dry weather.

I'm found this is aerial, what do you guys think? Will it be ok? Only thing is its 15mm I have to drill then.

But once it arrives I know I will probably start the mod.

LED's arrived in the post today so got something to keep me busy with in the meantime.

I would think flack would know but it looks good to me.

Yes looks ok to me.. Why a 15mm hole ? if your referring to the blue Fakra connector then take it off as in the Pdf file and then its about 6 or 7mm hole that you need.
