Sag, you only need the sensors if you have had the Check Brake Pads warning come up.

No warnings yet Ian, will I be ok with just discs, pads & shoes in that case?

Disks pads and shoes will be fine. Sometimes the sensor breaks depending on how ham fisted the mechanic is getting it off the old pads.
