How long to change oil temperature/level sensor?

Question for experts: How much time is required to change oil temperatue/level sensor (or both if 2 different sensors - excuse my ignorance) on a 2013 RRS1 SDV6 Question

Reason I ask ... been a week since the garage ordered the part(s) and told me it is a lengthy job (10-16 hours!) but they also confirmed it wasn't a body off job - just difficult access. We are way past the quoted timeframe and I still don't have the car back Big Cry Wondering what could it be?

Today I am going to be a bit less "nice" to ask them for more detailed status than "in progress". However, in parallel I also wanted to ask the knowledgeable ones here if they see any complications with this kind of work. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Sounds to me as though they are sitting on the job waiting for a gap when they don't have nice lucrative servicing jobs to do. As it's the run up to Christmas I bet they're trying to clear the servicing books and you're being back burnered. I had this with a thermostat housing replacement under warranty. Similarly just before Christmas and they kept saying they were waiting for this and that to happen before they could finish. I ended up picking up the RRS on Christmas Eve...2 weeks after it went in! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Sounds plausible but I really hope they haven't put me on the back burner despite me telling them countless times how urgent this is Shocked They are fully aware that before embarking on a 2k+ miles trip in just a few days, I need to develop the same level of trust in the car that I had before this problem. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

The actual level sensor itself is located inside the crankcase, and is a Censored of a job...

Both sensors live inside the lower crankcase. "Book" time is 4.8 hours, as above. In reality, it will probably take twice as long...

Starter out, hubs off, driveshafts, propshaft and front diff have to come out

Replaced quite a few lower crankcase gaskets as part of engine swaps, and never had any issues. You'll be fine for your holiday Thumbs Up
