A colleague had just had his RRS stolen! The Police thought that the close proximity of the key fob inside his house to his car on the drive meant all anyone had to do was touch the door handle and the car would open! After that, just touch the Start button and off it went!

Think is about time jaguar/land rover stepped up there game and sort this issue out. Why should anyone pay for extra security after forking out 30k plus. |

How close is the car to the house mine will not unlock unless i am within 3 ft of the door, i would virtually have to park mine in the house for that to happen. Also, if i start the car then get out, immediatley the "smart key not found " alarm comes up on the dash.

^^^ +1 on the proximity theory from the police being far-fetched unless the car was parked right next to the door/wall that the key was hanging on the other side of It doesn't work unless the key is really really close to the car.

Yes, it's rubbish. As said, you have to be quite close to open the doors and basically the fob must be inside the car to start it! |

Yes, forgot that bit You can drive it away without the key but you have to start it with the (original or cloned) key inside the car first. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Got to love Thatcham.... Buy a £80000 RRS, then buy further Thatcham devices to make it safe.

I'd be quite happy going back to using a key to start the engine. The distance between the little shelf by the door where I put my key and a car is probably two meters max.....so I wonder what the range is. However I think this is an easy test for all owners to do. If you leave your key where you normally leave it, could you start your engine? |

JLR should make keyless entry an option. Personally, I still prefer using the key to start the car. 2008 TDV8, Java Black, Ebony Sports Seats, Side Steps, Zebrano, Privacy Glass, Premium ICE, Hybrid TV. |

We can't go back to using keys because keyless transportation is how it ALL started. Horses, for example. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
