if its anything like rain-x it works well at speed but when you go slow and put wipers on it smears which was a pain at night

i use the carlack glass twins for my side and rear glass, and its amazing stuff, a cleaner and then the sealent.

I have never used it on the front for the same reason as above, i always fear smears and hazing at night

there are harder wearing glass selents designed for the front screen, but the risk is how they are applied to give a smear free finish

Agree with above - but I prefer with Rain X than without.

An alternative much praised on the classic Porsche forum is PIAA wiper blades (and they have a cool white lettering on them). Haven't tried them myself though as I'm a 'keep it original' OCD merchant. Yawn 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Never tried Duxback, mainly as I'd always seen it as an overpriced product sold by dealers Whistle

Agree with Nick, Carlack twins are good. I've also had good experience of GTech's G1, though there's a bit of alearning curve to applying it the first couple of times.

I've recently started using ArtdeShine's Nana Paint Gloss Sealant on the glass around the car. Great product and takes 2 mins to whiz around the car and lasts well between washes. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Any tips for a first timer on applying the G1 then BC?

I've had some sat on my desk for about 6 months and not got round to doing it yet, but with all this bad weather lately I'm going to give it a bash when we get a dry day Thumbs Up

Just driven on motorway in heavy rain and spray. Rain-x meant I didn't need the wipers.

Only downside is smearing at times (seems to be worse first thing in the morning). Rest of the time it's not an issue. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Sparky - make sure the screen is REALLY clean, by that, I mean, clay the screen first, then get some Bar Keepers Friend (Tesco, Robert Dyas etc) and give the screen a thorough clean with it, then if you have some, wipe over with IPA (alchohol solution) after too, to give it the best bonding chance.

Then work methodically to cover all the screen evenly. I then even followed it up again with another application after a couple of mins before removal.

Then use the solution supplied (IPA) to remove it. A decent non shedding microfiber is a key tool in the process also.

Be prepared for a bit of wiper squeak/judder, if that is the case, then give the wipers a good clean too.

If you get it right its a fantastic product.......but I must admit, I've generally settled for the more regular but less picky treatment of G5. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Thanks all, think I will try the G5, should suit my needs as don't do a lot of motorway mileage, so should be fine for me around town. Thumbs Up Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8
