Gear box ecu remap

I've had an engine remap which is amazing

Will a gear box re map make much more difference?
What should I be paying for one

Thanks

Hi not heard of a gearbox remap, but, am always interested to read about engine remaps and what real life improvements (if any) people report.
Ive not had my 2.7 remapped as can't decide if it's worth it or which is best

You would possibly benefit from a gearbox reset and a transfer box recalibration. It would then all start working with factory settings to adapt itself to your new (more powerful) driving style.

if you knock it into sport mode, you effectively give it a gearbox remap as it will lock up the TC earlier and hold the gear for longer before changing up. Bodsys Brake Bible

Ive just had mine done today (2006 2.7) and I can tell the difference. Ive only had a short journey in rush hour traffic though, but where I had an opportunity to "give it some" it did feel good. That god damn awful slow hesitation from start off to 2nd has greatly improved. Im going to hopefully get the terraclean done at the weekend as well, to smooth out a few more creases, then the next job after that is blanking the egr valves. Hopefully should feel more of a difference.

The real test will be when I set off for work in the morning, as thats when its normally feels really guff, so i'l let you know in the ext few days how it feels. The guy who did mine does a lot of work for some of the more expensive styling companies, who charge their customers a fortune for the maps he sells them for a 1/4 of the price! lol 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Yup, drive to work was soooooooooo much better. Gear changes felt good, and she nipped along nice. Slight hesitation at 1st, but not enough to ruin the drive.

Got the car down for the Terraclean next week, so just need to get her in for the egr valves to be blanked off at some point.

Darren,

You had an engine remap or a gearbox remap? I'm struggling to ever hear of a gearbox remap for the RRS.

When doing an engine remap, the norm is to reset and recalibrate the gearbox and transfer box, but I've not heard anyone re-mapping the gearbox. Bodsys Brake Bible

Darren
Did you use 1st, Question remember the car normally defaults to 2nd unless you manually select first or use sand mode etc In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Sorry, ECU remap! Lol...

SRE, I didn't realise the car defaults to 2nd gear.... Why on earth would they design it to do that???? 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

The guy who did my remap also does the Terraclean. I had a good chat with him about it when the ECU was being done, and he said it really does make a difference. He was one of the first people in the UK to be offered it, as he does a lot of work for whatever company owns the UK rights, but he turned it down because he thought it was yet another bull Censored type cleaner hitting the market. Anyway, long story short, he ended up getting it a few years after it had been in the UK, but only after having it demonstrated on his work van and mums 160k corsa.... and he said the results were great.

He said he does always warn his customers that having this done, can bring up any pre-existing issues that the gunk in the engine may be delaying. The fact is that the issue was there, and it would eventually effect the car, but removing the gunk and crud can bring it on. He was a really sound guy, and just said how everything is...

The benefits are that all the crud is removed from the engine. Any smoking issues are resolved, quieter idling etc, the engine runs better. Im hoping to combine that, with having the EGR valves blanked off as well (Prob in 2 weeks), so I should in "theory" have a much more efficient running engine.

Not sure how well I will be able to report on improvements, as Ive only been driving the RRS since Saturday, so im still getting used to how it drives. Definitely noticed a difference with the remap, so fingers crossed it will be yet another improvement on how she drives.

Will update at some point next week! Thumbs Up 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

I'd be interested to know if it's any good too, though I'm very wary.

Good to see that their engine map gain claims are reasonable though. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
