Is my RRS mapped?

First post guys so take it easy, just purchased my first RRS, set out to buy a TDV8 and ended up with a cracking TDV6. The first planned mod was to be a re-map but i'm now thinking that it may have already been done, everything points to it being a stock motor (35k and 1 owner from new) but i'm just not sure?

I appreciate its difficult to judge from afar so I suppose the easiest bench mark would be MPG.... I'm getting 18-19 around town (not had it on a M'way run yet) and whilst there's definitely some lag when pulling out of junctions, I would not consider it suicidal as some others would.....

What's your thoughts?

Thanks Dave, is 18-19 MPG about right for driving B roads and around town then?

I did a 20 mile run on A roads today and only got 20.2MPG, the car had both EGR valves replaced and a service before purchase, I convinced myself to go for the TDV6 based on economy and its not living up to what I expected.

If I could establish the car hadn't been mapped and the outlay was going to get me 24MPG I think i'd be happy at that...

My TDV6 has been mapped to 260bhp

Around town it does about 16-17mpg. Out on a run, around 30mpg. Don't trust the trip computer on the dash. They can be hopelessly optimistic

If you have the "death hesitation" then it's unlikely that your car is mapped. Apart from going better and increased mpg, the most noticeable part of the remap on my two V6's, was that there was no delay in applying throttle and car responding instantly. Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

I always thought mine had been mapped as it always felt quite quick. However, had a full service recently and it no longer feels 'quite quick'. I may have just got used to it I suppose

This is power/torque measured at the wheels, before and after it's map

Looks like a good map it's making more power from the off as opposed to later in the Rev range where it is of less use for our cars. It's a shame for the initial loss of power through the box other wise those lines would have looked great.
What modifications are required for those power levels ?
The best tourqe increase i can find for a tdv6 is msd ( evoloution chips)

The initial loss is due to the way the gearbox behaves at full throttle. It tries to kickdown from 4th even though the kickdown switch isn't activated.

Different software in the box would have cured that, but didn't have my diagnostic kit with me to do it on the day...

The car has a decat, silicone hoses, EGRs blanked (at the exhaust manifolds) bloody big Intercooler, and the cam timing set the way I want it, not the way LR say Whistle Thumbs Up

Car was mapped on a live dyno too

So no major modifications really then other than a decat and intercooler.
I have been toying with idea of a remap, even tho I barley drive my car once a week! ( our lass does the school run 5 oh of 7)
The best map I have seen, as said is the msd one For arround £250-£300. They and others are doing live maps from
£400-£500! So this may be a more beneficial option for not much more outlay.

Did you knock the "cat" out the original pipe or get a custom down pipe?

Looks like I'll be investing in a map then.... Wish I could run to a new intercooler as well Twisted Evil

I don't have the time to get over to BAS, does anybody have any experience/recommendations for any of the mobile guys?

The intercooler, and associated pipework can be had for less than £200 Thumbs Up

It always a talking point with my car, and I keep a cooler and set of pipes in stock Thumbs Up

Rich, my Decat is an actual Decat pipe. I got more from the scrap man for the old.downpipe than the Decat actually cost me Whistle

Yes some cats are good money Thumbs Up

Strictly speaking the removal of the cat is an instant fail. You would be much better knocking the middle out so know one could tell. We have just had a special notice regarding exhaust emmision filters and garages that offer a removal service that also do mots. I suspect the DVSA are going to be clamping down on this soon.

As with egr valves this is not covered under not rules, yet....

Although the bas remaps come recommend on here I personaly think they are a little overpriced.

Super chips and evolution have a network of dealers and are £100 cheaper.
The evoloution remap produces more torque than any other I have seen.
