You won't get that answer as LR will keep the core unit and never reveal the cause of the failure. I asked, demanded and even got my Solicitor to write to them but answer was damaged beyond identification of cause.

If you peruse the FFRR forum, you will find turbo failure is just as common. Just finished a pair of turbo's on an FF. Actual cause of failure was "lack of oil" as diagnosed by a turbo specialist (req for warranty claim) Upon replacing the oil feed pipe, it was found to be mostly blocked. It may be worth replacing said feed pipe every few years, as part of routine servicing... |

Which leads to various other questions such as are LR using the correct oil when servicing vehicles. Ford had this issue with CVH engines when I worked for them and head/engine replacements were common at low milage. They ended up changing oil specs at dealers to prevent Black Death in engines.

Not looked at a TDV8 Sport since, but the FF is fairly straight forward. A bit fiddly mind, but what job isnt Will bear it in mind next time I have one in my hands, unless someone local to me has a TDV8 we can inspect sooner |

In this case, it was the feed pipe that was blocked, No 4 on the picture

My TDV8 has been at the dealer since last Wednesday (hopefully picking it up tomorrow) with a blown turbo - the second time in three months. I advised them to at least clean out the oil pipes. My guess is that they won't have done so, of course. I expect another turbo to blow again in the next couple of months... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
