That's the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS).

Thanks Bobby. The test you suggested is exactly what I had done last night before posting.

Yes, engine warning light should not be related to this although the AFS could be affected if there is a problem with the suspension system.

I've thought to myself that perhaps the lights only go through the calibration routine if the car has been moved? On Saturday Id started the engine a couple of times without looking at the lights and then when I was looking for the 'dance' in the evening, I hadn't driven anywhere. Will check once it gets dark tonight. |

Just wondered if anyone has come across this issue since my original post? |

I am experiencing something very similar, only that one side does not dance.

Yes, but I don't think it's the same issue if you have one side working.

Thanks - and yes still having the intermittent fault. It seems if I switch on the lights whilst the car is not level (i.e. on a slope) both sides work fine. Which leads me to think that a level sensor could be sticky and needs free-ing up.

My AFS is not dancing either. I've found this part number 5DF008704-70 but haven't changed yet.

Mine don't dance either. was it a standard feature on all cars? Mines a 55 plate. I'm guessing it was as there's no manual option.

The CJB is the Central Junction Box and is behind the lower glovebox - you have to drop the glovebox down and release the sides to get to it. The BJB the Battery Junction Box is next to the battery in the engine bay. |
