Lost volume on Radio & SatNav

Hi Guys

Working fine then following day Radio & SatNav volume gone!

Both units are still working as usual with all visual Audio stations, CD, Satnav working but simply no sound??

Have checked operational settings and all as usual volume settings and fuses 42 & 53 are good but cannot reach fuses 57 & 57 - I cannot get fingers into tight location.

Not my field unfortunately so has anyone any ideas to suggest or is this a dealer job I wonder?

Thanks

Lost volume on Radio & SatNav

Hi Simon73

Thanks, I have tried that but didn't work.

Spoke to my independent who services etc and he had not experienced this problem and then spoke to main dealer today who said their electrical boffin suggested a Hard Battery Reset by simply disconnecting earth strap for about 20 mins.

Did this and left it for 30 mins and guess what - nothing!

Car started no problem - radio and sat Nav graphics came on no problem - volume control on radio registered being raised and lowered but no sound from radio or sat nav voice.

New battery fitted less than 12 months ago, so, where to go from here?

Any ideas would be appreciated guys.

Lost Volume on Radio/SatNav/CD

Just for info sake, had diagnostic done and Amplifier failed - new one on order as could not find any compatible with my 2006 sport on internet/ebay etc. £420 + Vat for Harmon Kardon unit plus labour to removal and replace front seat to afford access so expensive way to have noise again!!

I don't suppose you've recently fiddled with your Bluetooth module in the boot? I had the volume issue, and it turned out when fitting a new Bluetooth module I'd plugged one of the plugs back in backwards.
Landrover told me it needed a new amp- but luckily my independent spotted the issue.

Lost Volume of Radio & Sat Nav

Thanks Bladeboy but no, I really know very little about these things so always leave well alone.

As not intending to sell car I thought it worth the painful investment.

Lost volume on Radio & SatNav

Hi Guys

The answer to this problem was the amplifier that had failed!

What I can't understand is why my conversations with local LR Dealership failed to come up with any ideas whereas a local Indi simply diagnosed and hence the pyramids! Surly I cant be the first to have had this problem so experience should have shown through, I would have thought?

Had a new one fitted and everything is fine.

The same Indi identified the cause of an occasional loss of power as being due to a failing "Air Mass Meter" and new needed to correct this. Again, I have to say that main agent could not id this a couple of years ago when I first raised it. Since then not a problem and only when towing back from Cornwall recently and under load has this happened - three times in all on separate trips. I found that by switching off and restarting reset things and all was okay but a little hairy at speed when towing 1650kg of van on the back!

Anyway, now we know and that will be dealt with soon but not urgent according to Indi! Baza G

I had a similar issue this week. I had left the interior light on all night and when I started the car in the morning, there was no volume and I couldn't change the radio channels. After a 40 mins drive to work and a restart, it was fine. I presumed that the light had drained some of the battery and the system goes into self preservation and cuts power to non essentials until the alternator has recharged the battery.
