If you fit winter tyres they'll be fine. Rubber band summer slicks on the other hand? Yikes! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Why wouldn't normally tyres be fine? We have 4 wheel drive? |

Your car also weighs around 2.5T and once it starts sliding, four wheel drive probably won't save you. 2015 Golf R DSG

First experience in snow in my RRS - straight lines not a problem - corners was squeaky bum time - slid everywhere - 22's & Toyo tyres - agree with most of the above IMO you still need to demonstrate extreme caution 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

1. Winter tyres are not just for snow. They perform better in all cold conditions - even just cold wet roads. 2. If you live in London then you probably benefit from the heat island effect more than most so don't see such low temperatures as often as others. 3. If you live in London you probably benefit from gritting more than most. 4. If you live in London you probably have better access to public transport as an alternative in bad weather. 5. If you're happy with your tyre choice, then fine. Advice was sought by someone and given by others. We don't promise not to say "told you so" if you ever come on here and say "I damaged a rim sliding on snow" 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
