Adaptive cruise control

Am I missing something here ? I love the ACC on my car but when I go to overtake a large vehicle like a truck or coach the system/radar senses the vehicle and slows down . Can this setting be adjusted if so how ? I must admit this has been bugging me for a while Confusedi

you need to override the ACC with the accelerator in such situations. If I understand you correctly the ACC is just doing its job by slowing you down when it sees an object ahead.

No not really it sees it when it is beside me so I wondered if the radar beam (width) could be adjusted otherwise I would be unable to for instance overtake a line of say 6 hgv s on cruise ?

Never had that, as I pull out, the car recognises that the route ahead is clear and accelerates up to set speed.

So does mine. Throttle override is just to get clear of the vehicle in front of me for the radar to find that clear stretch of road. Without throttle override it is too slow and cars behind don't like it.

Sounds like it needs to be adjusted. As you say, once you pull out the system should recognise that and accelerate up to the set speed. I find the decision to accelerate can take a few moments sometimes so a little prod of the loud pedal helps. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

You can adjust the distance it reacts. It works well on an A road but on motorway its a pain in the bum if you drive "properly" ie using lane 1. If you come up behind a unit it slows down which is a bit annoying. My truck has a similar system but you can adjust sensitivity and distance. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

What really bugs me with it is the braking, its like a child is driving, it can be really harsh, when I see the care ahead start to break I take over, the auto version is terrible. Can you update this in the computer to feather out to a stop?

I think it depends what gap you have set. If it's set to run a short distance behind the braking is more sudden. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Does anyone else find the car shifting down soon as you hit a hill?? Mine does it all the time on a motorway with cruise set and it is really irritating. Always wondered if that was normal? TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

I tried both, must make a note on how more aggressive it is. For me its not right. But its a classy feature.

Mine also shifts down when it sees a hill, far too readily in my opinion and I always think it will use more fuel that way. You expect this on a proper hill but not on a slight rise.
