It's at the base of the steering column just above the pivot that allows the steering rake to be adjusted. It's item 2 on this image.

If you have manual steering reach/rake adjustment then item 3 is your column. If electrical adjustment then item 4 is yours. Same location for the sensor in each case.

If this is related to your other HDC fault then that might suggest that there is a sensor fault somewhere - could be ABS or the steering sensor (although that can use a default setting if necessary). Obviously, an ABS sensor failure will impact on HDC (because they are the same system essentially). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It is to do with my hdc fault that's the only code that was logged on the car, the hdc fault only comes on, when I'm driving on the mway it never comes on round town and the streets only after about 25miles of continious driving

Just had the same issue with my RRS 2007 TDV6.

Anyone know if it is a definite replacement or is there a reset option.

Have had the fault reset with the Autologic and sensor alignment via the same and problem keeps recurring. 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6
