Spain 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Alaska White
New RRS, 1st post, questions about "Gulf Spec" an

Hello everyone, 1st post here.

Just moved down to Spain and had to buy a left hooker so the Merc CL63 AMG is up for sale back in the UK and I bought a 2010 RRS 5.0 S/C Autobiography and I love it, always wanted one.

I've got a couple of questions though and thought some of you fine people on here might be able to help me.

1) The RRS I've bought originated in Dubai, the previous owner also moved to Spain and now he's buying one of the new 2014 RRS's. I've booked it in for a service at my local LR dealership in Marbella and asked them to install the European sat nav (it still has the Middle Eastern version) They've told me I'll need to get a whole new sat nav module as my RRS is "Gulf Spec" Could anybody tell me what "Gulf Spec" is, I've tried googling it but found nothing.

2) I'm never going go offroad in it so I'm going to buy some 22" rims with 275's on the front and 295's on the back, has anybody got any comments/advice on this?

Many thanks in advance for any help given. 2010 RRS 5.0 S/C Autobiography

Qatar 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Buckingham Blue

I have a 2010 Gulfie, the only things that get changed/upgraded on most high end cars are - More powerful AC to cope with 50c days, tinting, no heated seats, no heated steering wheels and tougher air filters. Although these days the cars seem to come with everything the same as europrean cars.

As PaulR said Gulf spec is largely to do with the mechanicals to help the car operate better in the extreme heat.

With regards the SatNav there should be no difference. The dealer may need to go into the CCF data and change the settings from Middle East to Europe and upload the new European maps but that's about it.

I've got the older RRS and it was imported from the US to Middle East. The SatNav worked fine once the DVD was inserted.

Also I had to change the Radio settings because the FM frequencies used in the US are different to the Middle East which took some trail and error using my IID Tool.

I'd go back to the garage and get them to check more thoroughly, and if they still try and sell you a new navigation system contact Land Rover direct, which you can do through their Customer Relations section on this website here and they maybe able to help you more Wink

Paul, Guy, Thanks for the replies. "Gulfie" That's what I gotta call it then, I hate calling it a "Rangie" Started calling it "the truck" but as the Americans I work with keep pointing out "It ain't no truck, it's a soccer mom's SUV!!!"

I haven't actually been in the dealership yet, I'm away from home at work at the moment and have only been in contact with them via email, I'll definitely be speaking to them about it when I go in there. I've seen used sat nav modules for sale on eBay and they're over £1000, christ knows how much a new one will cost.

It goes in for the service in 3 weeks time when I get home, I'll let you know how it goes. 2010 RRS 5.0 S/C Autobiography
