Mine did the same - ( hoped it would go away ) ended up braking a clip - FIX - replace clip - clean & adjust  16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

I paid someone - because the clip had come off I was left with a constant screeching - but total costs was about £115 including new genuine clips - both sides was replaced - cleaned & adjusted - I'm pretty sure there's a how to in the forum guides  16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Sorry to hijack, mine does exactly this, it comes on and off ok (has never seized on) but when plugged in it came back with an error code for the park brake module.
Will a clean and adjustment fix this or is it to far gone?
Hope you get it sorted mate sounds like youve caught it early enough.

Had mine replaced the other day.

Bought the car and there was a very loud rattling from the rear near side wheel and when the brake was applied it sounded like someone was being murdered under my car - it was very embarrassing.

Turns out the electronic parking brake had been left on malfunctioned and they couldn't get it off and it was driven forward and shattered the brakes.

Total of £392 to replace
Not good!
