Programme key to put lights on

Hi all.
I've just taken delivery of my 2006 RRS yesterday am I'm new to this site so go easy on me!

I've never had a RR before so I'm obviously seeing what button do what and so on and currently when I press the Land Rover button on my my key fob the boot opens. I don't really have a need for this and instead would like the lights to come on. I've looked in the book and it says press and hold the button, flash the lights and that will programme it.

Problem is, when I press and hold the logo, the boot opens. I hear the beep from the dash and I flash the full beam but it doesn't re-programme it. The boot still unlocks when I press the logo. I'm getting a bit frustrated.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Peachy,

I followed the manual but it didn't change it.
I just can't seem to get it to change.

Programme by keeping the Land Rover button
pressed and also flashing the headlamps. A
chime from the instrument panel will confirm
successful programming.
A short press of the Land Rover button will now
cause the vehicle headlamps to illuminate for
the length of time specified in Settings. See
SELECTING SETTINGS OPTION, 81.
A second press of the button after three
seconds will deactivate the lamps. A further
press, within three seconds, will activate the
reverse lamps. A further press will deactivate
the headlamps and reverse lamps. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Thanks Martyn,
I tried that but it didn't work. I heard the beep but when I press the button the boot still pops open.

Was just wondering if once you set it to something it couldn't be changed?

As far as I know, you can change it to any of the options available, whenever you want to. If I get the chance today, I will try to set mine and let you know how I get on. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

The handbook does say that the keys are not to be in the ignition and the when reprogramming the button, when the button is first pressed during the programming sequence the function already in the key will operrate.

So key out of the ignition.

Press and keep pressed the Landrover Button and in your case the tailgate will unlock (don't worry about it)

With the Landrover button still pressed, flash the headlamps until the chime sounds

Now programmed for lights and the open tailgate function should be over written.
