A question about exhaust pipes

Sorry in advance but I really am a newbie.
I have a 2007 TDV8 with the HST kit fitted.

Whoever did this seemed to leave the tailpipes protruding beyond the bumper and I wondered if this really matters. It may be that the tailpipes arent original although I do feel that they probably are.

I will try to upload a piccie later but does anybody know just how these should be?

FWIW, when I looked under the car, there seems tp be about 40mm of free space beyond the clamp but its pretty corroded so i doubt I could just loosen it off nd slide it deeper onto the pipe?

Any pointers please?

Thanks,
Craig

The tailpipes do look as though they are sticking out too far, They should be flush with the rear bumper. Might be worth spraying the clamps with WD40 and see if they will undo, then adjust accordingly. In the meantime, take a look at this video of an HST and see how they should fit. Thumbs Up

thanks for that Ady,
My exhaust tips are way too far out it seems, Im wondering if they arent genuine equipment as I cant imagine that they will go on as far as they should.

I sprayed some WD on last night but I guess it needs to be done whilst cold and left for a while.

Your welcome. Thumbs Up
Just keep spraying the WD40 on a few times, it usually works.

Just went into Kwik Fit, I said I know its not a huge job but Il pay whatever it costs, he relies 2we don't do jobs like that"
So, I went to local garage, very helpful but didn't have a big enough ramp, I put it in off road height and he got under, undid the clamp but couldnt shift the tail pipe.

If I cant get it done, I will just have to convince everybody else that it's their tailpipes that are wrong and mine is how it should be.

Further update:

I took the car into a local RR pimping place DDC 4 x 4 in South Woodford, very helpful chap there.
He said he has seen the RR sport HST kit fitted with tail pipes that protrude and expalined that it has been done this way, as the tail pipes should be cut back first and whoever fitted this hasnt bothered.

He put me on to a company who do this and they quoted 70quid so I will be booking it in to have it done.

@ wilpart can please forward their details to me. As I have the autobiography kit put on via a LR approved body shop however the exhaust tips hang out by an cm, they need to flush or 5mm outwards. They usually put on with clamps and need to tip of the exhuast pipes chopped, the AB tip's need chopped as well to get the right fit. The bodyshop didnt want to risk chopping into the new AB tips so they just put them on. Hence I need to find somebody who does this type of thing on a regular basis as they would know how much to take off to get the fitting exact. More than welcome to check out my gallery. I'm based in North London myself.

Regards

i will get it done and update on it next week.

NAV1 - I wont forget to ask them if they can help you with your 1cm problem Laughing

Had my size reduction carried out today and all went well.

the garage was called (I think) abbey auto services, whatever the case, they did it and only charged me 50quid (might have been because Id been recommended and job was straightforward) but anyways, heres there number: 01992701201

Thats a bit harsh, though I know you are joking.
To be honest, I thought similar thoughts but as id been recommended I didn't really care.
They are very helpful and didn't charge me silly money so Id say never judge a sausage by its skin.
although when its a foreskin removal then one has to be careful!

Or you could go and pay £200-00 at a Landie main dealers - now they have shiny reception areas and even a coffee machine!
