We think its over fueling... does anyone know anything about

Hi

My wife has a 2007 2.7 RRS, whilst she was out in it yesterday she rang to say the engine seemed to be jumping all over the place and there was a knocking sound and she also noticed at times it was smoking when she pulled away.

My car guy reckons its over fuelling as this is a common fault on this engine. Does anyone on here have any knowledge or experience of this. can it be fixed? is it expensive and will that solve the problem or will it come back again?

Any input would be great guys so thanks in advance

Over fuelling ??? Does he mean you've got a faulty injector, get the fault codes read. Faulty injectors can burn out the piston which if left can take out the engine.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
2009 TDCi 90 current
2018 Discovery 5 HSE lux current
1994 Dakar current

First thing to check is the intercooler hoses to make sure they haven't split or collapsed internally. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Just my 2p - It also sounds like a possible misfuelling as you can have very similar symptoms when petrol is put in a diesel (yes, that is experience talking). Luckily for me I only put in 1/4 tank of petrol so was able to dilute with diesel repeatedly over the next few days without any lasting problems (so far!).

Good luck.
