I have Pogo Alert (plus? It's a small diddly one with colour touch screen) but I never use it anymore. Just use my eyes and ease off the throttle. Got caught while using it once, 38 in a 30 or something, because I mistook it for a 40 limit... so what's the point?

I have a Road Angel which also tells you the speed limit on the road you are travelling on, so perhaps you bought the wrong speed camera detector. Banging Head Mine has saved my licence a few times, so to me, they are worth it. Don´t relay on them 100%, its called driving WITH due care ant attention. Thumbs Up As the Police will tell you, ignorance is no excuse. Wink

just seen Halfords selling the earlier version of Road Angel, i.e. basic model but only 70 quid inc 4 month subscription, worth it or pay difference for the updated model?

Not a radar detector, but CamSam is a good free app to install on your mobile
This is ideal if use a hire car on a business trip or holiday etc, works in the UK, Europe, the States etc

To reset stick a pin or a paper clip into the small hole on the rear of the unit, next to where the lead plugs in, wait 5 seconds.

Have managed to get hold of the RA Gem via Halfords (very helpfully tracked one down for me). Cool

For £70 I think it's a very decent bit of kit. Hopefully going to collect it tonight and looking forward to setting it up Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Laughing exactly ............ Whistle Wink

Having seen Foxy's one in action at the weekend, the way it displays average speed in restricted areas is brilliant. Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Anyone knows apart from displaying current road's speed limit, what does Road Angel Gem give you above speed camera POI that can be uploaded to MY13 nav?

^^^ Advanced audible warning of the camera's/blackspots, will also compute your average speed in 'average speed camera' areas.
Current GPS speed display (more accurate than the cars speedo Wink )
Also knows which side of the road the camera's are on, so won't alert you for camera's going the other way to you.

They're good little units and if you can track one down for £70, then I think they are well worth it. £39.99 to 6 months updates and you also get a free 4 months currently, so thats £109.99 for 10 months of live updates via subscription including the unit. Having just done 16,000 in a little over 7 months I've decided that it's worth it for an additional pair of eyes Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Many thanks BC Thumbs Up

I had mileage in mind too - since I changed to this car 7 months ago it has done less than 3000 miles. Clearly not driving it as much as I'd like to Sad So I was thinking is it worth it? By the way I have asked myself the same question about the RRS too Laughing but I am hoping it will see a lot more use in the 2nd half of the year.

Sounds like I don't need to return the RA. I asked the question after spending the money Embarassed Found, reserved and had the Mrs. collect it from our nearest Halfords. They don't have any more left. In fact it seems she bought the last one at that price within the M25 Shocked

Will set it up when I get home tonight Very Happy
