Does adaptive cruise control block speed lasers?

Does it block speed laser guns, if so would it still block them if the car isnt in cruise control mode?

(not that I ever drive too fast but in case somebody borrows the car and does)

Funny you should ask that question!

The answer is "Yes", but only if you are wearing a hat made of tin foil................. Laughing

It is possible to jam the radar gun signal, but it depends on the type and frequency. Over here, one can buy a system which will render the vehicle "invisible" to radar guns and camera sensor beams. A friend of mine has them in his M3, he speeds constantly and has never had a ticket. I believe that they are based on parking sensors from a Nissan Patrol? www.radars.com.au Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Here is one Range Rover owner who fell foul of the law.

I was reading up on this recently Terry, it seems systems are now out there that don't throw the error up on the speed gun. I also read about the garage door opener system but couldn't find much comprehensive info on it.

Purely for casual research purposes, naturally.....

If the device sensing the distance is a laser, and it's the same wave length as the speed guns, then yes it could be possible.

The ACC system uses radar, not laser. It won't affect a laser speed gun at all. In theory it could affect a radar speed trap but only if it uses a frequency similar to the speed trap which I doubt. The frequencies used by speed traps are well known and will be avoided by the ACC manufacturer. If you had the necessary skill/equipment you could probably adapt it to use a speed trap frequency.

Easier to just drive slower or use a GPS based speed trap directory as included in most GPS software these days. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I saw a TDV6 of same age and it didnt have it but maybe as you suggest it was fitted on the V8 as standard.

Whatever the case, I like using it but like many things with different cars its taking a bit of getting used to.
TBH my other car is a Porsche Cayman S manual and although it's a great car to drive, it has no bells or whistles at all, even the radio was ultra basic.
